Environmental Responsibility
Environmental responsibility is a key component of the company’s sustainable development plan. The Environmental Policy, which expresses the Company’s commitment to the ideals of sustainable development, oversees environmental protection (EP). The document outlines the company’s main responsibilities, which include reducing negative environmental impact (NEI), pursuing resource conservation policies, taking all reasonable steps to preserve biodiversity and the climate, compensating for potential environmental damage, and ensuring compliance with environmental standards and requirements established by international legal acts in the field of environmental protection and republic of Kazakhstan legislation.
Natural gas contributes to Kazakhstan’s low-carbon development and is critical to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement due to its positive environmental effects. The corporation’s aims include reducing air pollution, generating and disposing of less waste from production and consumption, boosting energy efficiency, and safeguarding biodiversity and land. The Company recognizes the need of maintaining environmental balance when implementing investment ideas.

The National Gas Company believes that developing infrastructure for the supply of gas motor fuel (compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) will help to alleviate Kazakhstan’s diesel fuel crisis. For comparison: According to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, diesel fuel usage is approximately 5.5 million tons per year. In neighboring Uzbekistan, which has a population twice that of Kazakhstan, diesel fuel usage is three times lower. This distinction stems from the active development of Uzbekistan’s gas motor fuel market. Uzbekistan has 80 times more automobile gas filling compressor stations (CNG filling stations) than Kazakhstan, with 1,440 units compared to 18 units.
LLP Expressoil intends to extend the number of CNG filling stations in Kazakhstan to 32, establish two new liquefied natural gas plants, and negotiate the expansion of the bus fleet that uses natural gas engine fuel. As a result, meeting the target indicators will raise the number of jobs in the industry to 245, and in associated fields to 1000. To further promote the gas motor fuel market, LLP Expressoil intends to unite cities with existing CNG filling stations by developing fixed and mobile CNG filling stations along major international and national routes. These include the Western Europe to Western China route, the Beineu-Uralsk route, and the Astana-Almaty route.
LLP Expressoil is currently setting the pattern for the expansion of the CNG filling station network and attracting worldwide transportation utilizing gas motor fuel. As a result, the shift of international and intercity transportation to gas engine fuel will greatly cut transportation expenses due to the lower fuel cost compared to diesel. This will have an impact on the final price of transported items. The eventual building of a network of CNG filling stations along Kazakhstan’s highways will allow the conversion of farm machinery, heavy quarry equipment, railway, river, and sea transport to gas motor fuel.
